During this festive week, there will be no Diwali or Kali Puja gifts for West Bengal Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee who has strictly forbidden it.
The gifts range from chocolates, cookies, expensive pens and cutlery to decorative pieces, dry fruits, perfumes and even garments.
The CMO has informed the police on the ground floor that gifts would not be allowed inside.
“The chief minister has categorically said she would not accept any gift,” the chief minister’s confidential assistant Ratan Mukherjee told PTI here today.
“She is always averse to accepting gifts since she became MP for the first time in 1984 after defeating then CPI(M) leader Somnath Chatterjee,” Mukherjee said.
“This has been continuing for the past 30 years even when she was a minister in Delhi,” he said.
