A sessions court on Friday sentenced a woman to five years imprisonment for aiding terrorist activities by acting as a conduit.

According to the prosecution allegations, the woman had tried to ferry money from the Pakistan High Commission to J-K. Additional Sessions Judge Ravinder Kaur sentenced Anjum Zamrooda Habib, of J-K, convicting her under Section 22(3) of Prevention of Terrorism Act (POTA) (providing money to be used for the purpose of terrorism). Anjum, however, will have to spend only four more months in custody as she had already spent four years and eight months in custody.

According to the prosecution, Anjum was arrested outside the Pakistan High commission in Delhi on February 6 in 2003. She had allegedly gone to the High Commission on the instructions of the All Party Hurriyat Conference (APHC) to meet the Deputy High Commissioner of Pakistan. Rs 3 lakh in cash and a diary were recovered from her possession. Police had claimed that there were names of several militants in the diary.
