Naxal-hit Aurangabad now boasts a Lara motorcyle agency La for Lalu Prasad Yadav,Ra for Rabri Devi. Son Tej Pratap has branched from the family business of running cowsheds or khatals into selling bikes,and this is his way of honouring one of Bihars more famous marital partnerships.
Lalu was present to inaugurate the outlet at Kama Bigha along NH 2 with a few RJD leaders last Saturday. Handing over the keys to the first customer,Abhishek Kumar from adjoining Obra,Lalu said,Give best wishes to my son for his new venture.
While the word Lara immediately brings to mind West Indies legend Brian Lara,Tej has no association with cricket,unlike younger brother Tejaswi,who has been a member of the Delhi Daredevils IPL team for the last five seasons without playing a single match.
Tej,24,who is a student of political science at Patnas B N College,is more interested in flying. He is a member of the Patna Flying Club. He is a also a devotee of Lord Krishna.
Politics too has apparently never crossed the low-profile Tejs mind. Tejaswi had,on the other hand,campaigned for the RJD in the 2010 assembly elections.
Aurangabad RJD leader Ajay Kumar Sinha is the local caretaker of the motorcycle agency. With Tej Pratap needing to divide his time between the motorcycle shop,college and the flying club,Sinha will be running the business. I am just helping Tej Pratap, Sinha said.
Asked about the surprising choice of Aurangabad,a close Lalu aide said,Aurangabad is a growing place and quite an untapped one. It would also mean that Tej can work peacefully,away from the media glare.
