UAV crashes near LoC,no injuries reported

UAV had taken off from Jammu around 1.40 pm.

An unmanned aerial vehicle (UAV) of the Indian Army crashed near the Line of Control (LoC) in Nowshera Monday afternoon. Giving details,defence ministry spokesman S N Acharya said that the UAV had taken off from Jammu around 1.40 pm and it crashed near Nowshera in five minutes. There has been no loss of life or damage to property,he said,adding that the cause of crash is being ascertained.

Sources,however,said that two brothers at Rajan Top village near Nowshera had a narrow escape as the UAV fell near the fields they were working on. Sources said that the duo immediately informed the police,following which senior police and Army officials reached the spot and sealed off the area.

Meanwhile,a tenuous calm prevailed along the international border as there has been no mortar shelling from Pakistan over the last three days.
