India on Wednesday said that its relationship with Pakistan is under strain as the neighbouring country continues to foster terrorism from its soil. Barely a week before the two countries are about to meet for foreign secretary level talks,Minister of State for Defence,M Pallam Raju, has said that Pakistan needs to contain terror emanating from its soil.
Conscious fostering of terrorism from across the border is not helping bilateral relations. I hope the Government of Pakistan takes fruitful action to contain this, the minister said on the sidelines of a function in the Capital on Wednesday.
Raju also repeated his earlier stand that Pakistan needs to deal with all terrorists equally and should not distinguish between good and bad terrorists,in a swing at the theory of good Taliban and bad Taliban. Pakistan is failing miserably in trying to differentiate between good and bad terrorists. They need to deal with the entire spectrum of terrorism in an even-handed manner, Raju said.
Answering queries on increasing infiltration from across the Line of Control, the minister said that a spurt is expected as snow has started melting in the higher reaches of the mountainous border region. Infiltration has increased in recent times but we anticipate more infiltration as the snow melts in the upper reaches of Jammu and Kashmir, he said.
