One of the accused in the Madan Tamang murder case was found murdered at Singla tea estate on the Bengal-Sikkim border on Thursday.

Police said Dil Kumar Rai was hacked to death in Singla,25 km from Darjeeling town, late Wednesday. The body had several injury marks.

Rais name figured in the chargesheet filed by the CID after All India Gorkha League leader Madan Tamang was hacked to death on May 21,2010,by an armed mob in Darjeeling town while overseeing preparations for a public meeting that day. The CBI,which took over the probe,is yet to arrest 22 of the 30 persons who figured in the CID chargesheet.

A senior CBI official said,Dil Kumar Rai was one of the accused. But he was absconding. We could not establish any contact with him ever. He was a local tough and we did not have knowledge about his whereabouts.

According to preliminary investigation,it appears Rai was murdered over personal enmity, said a senior police official. The police have started a probe.
