After Ambedkar Nagar,AICC general secretary Rahul Gandhi is all set to hold a rally in Naxal-hit Ahraura area of Mirzapur district in Uttar Pradesh on May 18.
Congress sources say the aim of the rally is to highlight the plight of the people in the tribal belt and the state governments apathy.
Mirzapur is bordered by other Naxal-hit districts in the state,including Chandauli and Sonbhadra. The Congress plans to bring people from eight districts around Ahraura in eastern Uttar Pradesh to make the rally a success, including Varanasi,Azamgarh,Jaunpur,Ghazipur etc.
A meeting of the Congress unit heads of these districts was called in Lucknow recently and instructions were issued to them to start working in their respective areas.
