A minor girl was allegedly set ablaze by a woman following an altercation over the girls allegation about sexual harassment by the womans son,in Hathras on Wednesday.
The police,however,said the incident was a result of an old enmity between the two families,both Dalits. The accused are yet to be arrested.
SP Chandra Prakash said the allegation of sexual harassment had not been confirmed. In her declaration,Sangeeta,14,only said her neighbour Savitri Devi set her on fire.
However,her father Raj Bahadur told The Indian Express that his daughter was returning from a friends place on Tuesday when Savitri Devis son Babu and his friend passed lewd remarks. Sangeeta objected,leading to an altercation.
Raj Bahadur alleged that later,when Sangeeta was alone,Savitri,her son and his friend set her on fire.
