CISF personnel to undergo jungle warfare training

Five CISF jawans and a civilian driver were killed by Naxals on Sunday when they were on their way to a security outpost near the NMDC mines.

The Central Industrial Security Force (CISF) has decided to send all its personnel guarding installations of the National Mineral Development Corporation in Chhattisgarh for jungle warfare training after six of them died in a Naxal ambush in Kirandul area this week.

The CISF has also asked the NMDC management to provide them with anti-landmine vehicles,bullet-proof vehicles and thermal-imagers to fight rebels in the Left Wing Extremist (LWE) affected area.

Jaideep Prasad,DIG (intelligence and operations),CISF,said: To begin with the men posted in Kirandul and Bailadila will be sent for training to a Jungle Warfare College. We have limited exposure in combat operations and want our men and camps to be self sufficient. We have asked the management to provide us anti-landmine and bullet-proof vehicles.

Maoists trigger IED blast on tracks

Passengers of the Dhanbad-Ferozepur-Ludhiana Express had a narrow escape early on Thursday when Maoists triggered an IED blast on railway tracks in Bihars Gaya district. Railways and police said there was no casualty. The incident took place on the outer junction of the Gurpa station around 1.30 am.

Guard dies in firing at Chhattisgarh ministers home

Unidentified persons attacked the residence of state Sports and Women and Child Development Minister Lata Usendi in Kondagaon on Thursday evening,killing a guard posted there.

Usendi was not at home when the attack took place.

The police said the assailants came on a motorcycle and opened fire,killing guard Ratan Lal Netam on the spot. They looted his INSAS rifle and escaped. While their identity is not clear,ADG (Naxal) Ramnivas said: A small action team of Maoists could be behind it.
