CBI announces reward for info on duo killed with Ishrat Jahan

Gujarat Police had claimed that Zeeshan Johar and Amjad Ali Rana were Pak citizens who had come to India to kill VIPs,including Narendra Modi.

The CBI has announced a reward of Rs 5 lakh for credible information on the “real identities” of Zeeshan Johar and Amjad Ali Rana,who were killed with Ishrat Jahan and Javed Sheikh in an alleged fake encounter in 2004.

In an advertisement published in Urdu papers of Jammu and Kashmir,the agency said: “The two persons in the pictures above are said to have been killed in an encounter with police in Ahmedabad,Gujarat,on June 15,2004… If anyone provides the real identity of these persons or substantial information about them,they will be given a cash reward of Rs 5 lakh.”

Confirming this,CBI spokesperson Dharini Mishra said the identity of the person who volunteers information will be kept confidential.

The Gujarat Police had claimed that Johar and Rana were Pakistani citizens who had come to India to kill VIPs,including Chief Minister Narendra Modi. On July 8,The Indian Express had reported that the CBI was probing their nationality.
