Bengal rape victim’s family to meet President

The family went to their rented house near the Dum Dum airport.

The family of the16-year-old gangrape victim of Madhyamgram will meet President Pranab Mukherjee on January 7 and is likely to demand a CBI probe into the assault and her subsequent death.

The victim’s father said,“We have lost faith in the police and administration. They are not cooperating with us. They did not even send a forensic team to the house where my daughter was set on fire. They are trying to destroy all evidence so that the culprits walk free. We will meet the President and demand a CBI probe.”

The family Saturday went to their rented house near the Dum Dum airport,which was sealed by the police the day the girl died. They also went to the airport police station as they were yet to receive a copy of the FIR,lodged after the girl was set on fire.

Meanwhile,amid the controversy over the Bihar government sending a police officer to meet the victim’s family,six women BJP leaders from Bihar and Bengal also visited the family.
