U’khand to get country’s first cow institute

Before fulfilling its poll promise of bringing in a legislation to protect cows in the state, the BJP-led state Government headed by Chief Minister B C Khanduri has decided to set up a Cow Science and Technology Institute in Chamoli district of the state.

Before fulfilling its poll promise of bringing in a legislation to protect cows in the state, the BJP-led state Government headed by Chief Minister B C Khanduri has decided to set up a Cow Science and Technology Institute in Chamoli district of the state.

A provision of Rs 3 crore has been made for the proposed institute in the first budget presented by the Chief Minister. It would be the first institute in the country to do research on the various breeds of indigenous cows. Besides research, the institute will work towards improving breeds and also study the medicinal value of cow urine and dung.

Chief Minister Khanduri has said that the institute will develop various medicines that would reduce dependency on conventional medicines.
