Chennai, March 11: The country’s leading centre-half Mohammed Riaz has fully recovered from injuries and is well on way to regaining his fitness ahead of the home Test series against Pakistan later this month.

Speaking to The Indian Express here this afternoon, Riaz, who missed the four-Test series in Pakistan, said, “I am working on my fitness and I am sure that as I play a few games, it will improve.”

The absence of Riaz was felt in Pakistan where India staged a stirring fight-back in drawing level at 2-2 after losing the first two Tests.Riaz, Mishra in: Forward Rajiv Mishra and Riaz have been included in the team for the Indian leg of the four-Test matches to be played as part of the revived Indo-Pak series, UNI reports from Chennai.

The selection committee, headed by chairman K P S Gill, decided to pick the two who were to be part of the team for the Pakistan-leg of the series but they had to pull out because of injuries.

The two would replace Altaf-ur-Rehman and Sukhbir Singh Gill,according to IHF secretary-general K Jothikumaran. The squad will have a short camp at New Delhi before the series.
