Obama asked to bring back co-chairs of 9/11 Commission

A top Republican lawmaker asked Obama to bring back the co-chairmen of the 9/11 Commission to evaluate which of the panel's recommendations have been implemented and which ones have been not.

A top Republican lawmaker on Wednesday asked President Barack Obama to bring back the co-chairmen of the 9/11 Commission to evaluate which of the panel’s recommendations have been implemented and which ones have been not.

Author of the 1998 legislation creating the National Terrorism Commission,Congressman Frank Wolf,said this in a letter to Obama written on Tuesday.

Wolf also asked Obama to create a “Team B” made up of experts who could provide him with other perspectives on dealing with the issue.

In addition,Wolf announced that he plans to introduce legislation to provide that the administrator of the Transportation Security Administration be appointed for a 10-year term like the director of the FBI.

In a separate letter to Deputy National Security Adviser John Brennan,Wolf,the lead Republican on the House Commerce-Justice-Science Appropriations subcommittee that funds key counter-terrorism programs,including the FBI and the High-Value Detainees Interrogation Group,posed a series of pointed questions concerning the security situation in Yemen and the circumstances surrounding the failed Christmas Day bombing of a US airliner.
