Dhoni under ICC scanner on ambush marketing: sources

Dhoni has reportedly come under scanner of the International Cricket Council for breaching its ambush marketing clause for the World Cup.

Indian captain Mahendra Singh Dhoni has reportedly come under scanner of the International Cricket Council for breaching its ambush marketing clause for the World Cup which begins from February 19.

According to sources, the ICC has dashed off a letter to BCCI pointing out that a recent commercial Dhoni had featured in could be in breach of its ambush marketing laws.

The ICC had written to chief executives of all the national boards reminding them of the need for strict adherence to the ambush marketing clause.

“Any squad member that knowingly or unknowingly breaches the squad terms may face sanctions ranging from financial penalties through to being excluded from continued participation in the event,” ICC had said in a memo.

Earlier this month, four Indian cricketers led by Sachin Tendulkar had met the BCCI President Shashank Manohar on this issue. Dhoni apparently took part in the meeting via teleconference.
