England clinched a 2-0 series victory over New Zealand on Sunday, winning by an innings and nine runs, with Ryan Sidebottom taking 6-67 to help dismiss the tourists a second time.

New Zealand had resumed on 177-5 on the fourth day of the third Test, and the match finished an hour before lunch as Sidebottom took four of the day’s wickets.

Gareth Hopkins only added five runs to his overnight score before he was caught behind by wicketkeeper Tim Ambrose off Sidebottom. Daniel Vettori became Sidebottom’s second wicket of the day leaving the tourists on 205-7. Kyle Mills was caught at first slip by Andrew Strauss and Paul Collingwood caught both Iain O’Brien (4), who was Sidebottom’s last wicket, and Chris Martin (0), whose dismissal gave James Anderson match figures of 9-98.
