
MUMBAI, MAR 14: A 255-run partnership for the fourth wicket between Atul Ranade and Amit Dani and a five-wicket haul by left-arm spinner Nilesh Kulkarni, enabled holders National Cricket Club trounce Young Friends by 224 runs to enter the semi-finals of the Young Comrade Shield cricket tournament, conducted by MIG Cricket Club, at Cross maidan, today.
Ranade’s knock of 120 had 16 hits to the ropes, while Dani had three sixes and 21 fours in his 174. The stand helped National to hit up 364-8 in the stipulated 70 overs.
In reply, Young Friends were bowled out for 137 after being 66-8 at one stage. Kulkarni was the wrecker-in-chief with 5-51 in 13 overs. Medium-pacers Manish Patel and Zahir Khan took two wickets each.
A 186-run stand for the first wicket between Amit Velaskar (79 with 5×4) and centurion Manish Bangera (105 with 10×4) was instrumental in hosts MIG Cricket Club’s four wickets win over Rajasthan.
A superb all-round performance by Shreyas Khanolkar (86 and 3-70) and a century by Amit Pagnis(107 with 13×4), featured Shivaji Park Gymkhana’s win over PJ Hindu Gymkhana.
Opener Vinayak More recorded his second successive century while scoring an unbeaten 109. His knock saw Shivaji Park Youngsters beat Parsee Gymkhana by seven wickets.
In the semi-finals next week, National will meet Shivaji Park Gymkhana, while MIG will clash with Shivaji Park Youngsters.
