MUMBAI, SEPT 18: The BJP’s clarion call to its grassroot level activists to reach out to all sections of the society, particularly the Muslims, will bring a an end to the vote bank politics being indulged by the Congress, BJP General Secretary Venkaiah Naidu said today.
“Following BJP President Bangaru Laxman’s call during the Nagpur session, there will be realignment in the socio-political spectrum. It will result in the beginning of a new chapter in the political history of the country,” Naidu told mediapersons.
Denying the charge that BJP’s new policy was aimed at appeasing the mulsims, Naidu said the fact that Bangaru Laxman’s speech attracted widespread attention and created ripples in opposition camps only establishes the fact that BJP was growing day by day. “We have spelt out our policy. We have not drafted any special package for them, but certainly, now the Muslims frankly admit that the BJP has not neglected them,” he remarked.
The high profile BJP spokesman said that the BJP wanted to be projected as “mini-Bharat”, a true reflection of social, regional, linguistic and religious diversities of the country. The partymen will spread the `Nagpur message’ for a fortnight beginning September 25, which also coincides with the birthday of the Prime Minister Atal Behari Vajpayee.
The newly-constituted National Executive of the party will meet in New Delhi on October one. A meeting of the party’s national office-bearers will be held on September 30, he added.
He said the National executive will prepare a broad strategy for the next year’s assembly elections in Uttar Pradesh, West Bengal, Assam, Tamil Nadu and Kerala.
The future programme of the party will also be finalised. Similarly, it will also announce the disciplinary committee, central election committee and the party’s parliamentary board, he said.
On the situation in West Bengal, Naidu claimed that law and order had collapsed completely and accused the ruling CPM of `unleashing a reign of terror’.
“The CPM, alarmed by the prospects of the BJP-Trinamool Congress combination coming to power after the forthcoming assembly polls, has unleashed a reign of terror in West Bengal,” Naidu said, adding, however, that the writing on the wall is clear and there is a mood for change, and the BJP-Trinamool will come to power at any cost.
On the demand for a separate Vidarbha, Naidu said the demand was not part of the National Democratic Alliance (NDA) Government’s agenda. He said that “ BJP as a party favoured the creation of smaller states”.
