
Dadar bank looted
MUMBAI, July 20: A gang of robbers took off with Rs 20 lakh in cash from a van of a cooperative bank at the busy Dadar TT junction on Monday. At about 8 pm, the bank’s van had brought in the money from other branches when five to six men waylaid the vehicle. Police said the robbers were lying in wait for the Indira Sahakari Banks’ van in a chocolate coloured Maruti car.
Posing as customers they surprised the lone guard at the entrance and brandishing choppers and guns they at the cashier, other staff and some clients, they escaped in their car. The robbers injured the bank’s security guard before getting away with the cash.
Plea to stay engg admissions
The Forum for Fairness in Education today filed a petition urging the Bombay High Court to stay admissions to the engineering faculty till the admissions to the medical faculty are over. The Supreme Court had ruled that students seeking medical seats will have to appear for a common entrance test, whose schedule isyet to be announced, and subject to SC hearing next Monday. As a result, the admissions to MBBS course are also in limbo.
