Umbarkar cremated
Panchgani: The mortal remains of Panchgani Cooperative Bank chairman and freedom fighter Bapusaheb Babaji Umbarkar who died in Pune last evening, were consigned to flames this morning. The city remained closed as a mark of respect for the departed soul.
Umbarkar (76) was associated with several other social and cultural association in this hill-station township.
Women’s training programme
Satara: A training programme in Entrepreneurship Development for the educated unemployed rural women will be conducted by Udyog Wardhini, a reputed non-government organisation (NGO) in Satara. The training will be for six weeks and will commence from February 1. The venue is the guest room at Shahu Stadium, Satara. The training is free.
The programme will cover 150 topics. The subjects include schemes self- employment, entrepreneurial personal building, market survey and market management, product survey, project report preparation, business accounts and business management, behavioural science training programme, achievement motivation programme. It also includes a three-day visit to various industries for the field experience.
Academicians, college teachers, industrialists, faculty members from EDIT (Entrepreneurship Development Institute of India) Ahmedabad, members from KVIB (Khadi and Village Industry Board), officers from NABARD, Lead Bank and other banking institutions will participate.
The programme is organised by Satara Jaycees and Udyog Wardhini. It is sponsored by NABARD, Pune division. District Collector Anil Diggikar will also attend.
