JAMMU, FEB 14: Union Home Ministry’s Special Secretary in charge of Jammu and Kashmir affairs, T R Kakkar, today said the counter-insurgency grid, a pool of different security agencies in the state, should be strengthened to tackle the insurgency situation.

Kakkar, who arrived here today along with a high-power central team, reviewed the law-and-order situation at a meeting with senior officials of Army, BSF, CRPF and J&K police. The meeting took stock of the situation and discussed the measures being taken following twin blasts atCanal Road and Vijaypur in Jammu killing 10 people and injuring over 35 during last two days.

Kakkar, accompanied by CRPF director general M N Sabarwal, was apprised by state authorities about the anti-militancy operations and their effectiveness in the state. The team was also apprised of CIG’s success ineliminating militants.
