SRINAGAR, Aug 14: Jammu and Kashmir Chief Minister Farooq Abdullah today questioned Pakistan’s locus standi on seeking resolution of Kashmir saying the issue was well settled five decades ago when the people tied their destiny with India.
“Pakisan is trumpeting on Kashmir forgetting that the people of Jammu and Kashmir had discarded the two-nation theory and chosen to join the secular India,” Abdullah said in a message to the people on the eve of 51st Independence Day.
He said “We will prosper and progress with rest of the country.”
At the dawn of Independence, Pakistan sent in raiders, who unleashed reign of terror in Kashmir, he said.
Pakistan after failing to get Kashmir in three wars, pushed in mercenaries and indoctrinated some of our youth to further their gameplan. A lot of people were killed, property destroyed and schools, bridges and other infrastructure, created over the years were put in shambles by militants in the past eight years, he added.
He accused Pakistan of notreciprocating to India’s initiative of peace and friendly relations and said Pakistan guns have not stopped roaring.
