SURAT, July 7: Umesh Chandra Sharma, 29, an army jawan from Fulpada in Ashwani Kumar, who was injured in an explosion in Chandigarh on Sunday succumbed to his injuries in the hospital yesterday.
The body, according to family members of the deceased, was cremated in Chandigarh today. His elder brother is expected to bring the mortal remains.
The jawan’s father Lavjibhai Sharma and elder brother Suresh were unaware of the nature of the explosion. Navin Vaghela, a family friend, told Express Newsline that the Sharma family had to seek union textile minister Kashiram Rana’s help to verify where Umesh was really dead.
