
SRINAGAR, SEPT 6: Ten people, including eight militants, were killed and four wounded during anti-militancy operations in Jammu & Kashmir while militants fired rockets at a security camp in the State in different incidents since last evening, an official spokesman said today.
Three militants were also arrested and an improvised explosive device (IED) defused in time during the period, he told reporters.
Two unidentified ultras were killed in a clash with Indo-Tibetan Border Police personnel during search operations at Ahlan-Gadol village in Kokernag area of Anantnag district today, he said.
Another militant, Farooq Ahmad Khanday alias Tanveer of banned Hizbul Mujahideen, was killed last night during an encounter with security forces at his village Botnar-Larkipora. The spokesman said security forces were fired upon by militants during search operations at Awatkul-Tutigund in frontier district of Kupwara last night. The securitymen returned fire, killing Ghulam Nabi Dar alias Qasim of the HizbulMujahideen. Two wireless sets and ammunition were recovered.
Militants also fired four rockets at a security camp at Dundak in Surankote sector of Poonch, he said adding that the rockets missed targets and there were no casualties.The spokesman added that two ultras were killed and a police officer wounded in separate encounters in Chaprian forest in Sawjian sector and Dachigali in Poonch last night. Rs 10,000 and a wireless set were seized from them. An unidentified militant was killed in an encounter at Marmat in Doda district today, he said.
