A local court in Chennai directed the release of MDMK chief Vaiko and party’s president Chairman M Kannappan, who were arrested on charges of sedition on October 23.

The order came after the Tamil Nadu Government’s submission that the investigation was over and there was no need for further remand of the two.

Vaiko and Kannappan, who appeared in court, also sought release on the grounds that the investigation was over. The seventh Additional Metropolitan Magistrate, K Ravi directed both to appear in court whenever summoned.
