Fine batting by opener Chetan Sharma (64) and experienced Parender Sharma (38) propelled hosts Haryana to a comprehensive seven-wicket victory over Delhi in the North Zone one-day Ranji league match.

Chasing a victory target of 171 runs, Haryana scored 173 for the loss of three wickets with 10.5 overs to spare.

Haryana were awarded four points for their victory and a bonus point for scoring the required runs in less than 40 overs in the 50-over match. Haryana now have nine points from two matches as they defeated Jammu and Kashmir in their inaugural match.

J & K beat Himachal

Faridabad: An all-round performance by Vijay Sharma helped Jammu and Kashmir beat Himachal by 12 runs.

Gurgaon: Skipper Dinesh Mongia struck a belligerent 81 to guide Punjab to an emphatic eight-wicket victory over Services in a North Zone Ranji Trophy one-day match.

Chasing a modest target of 134 for victory, the left-handed Mongia made a mockery of the weak Services bowling attack to clobber 13 boundaries and a mighty six as Punjab overhauled the target in just 25.5 overs with eight wickets in hand in a rather one-sided contest.

Brief scores: Services: 133 in 38.2 overs (Yashpal Singh 57, PMS Reddy 30, Sandeep Sawal 4-14). Punjab: 134 for 2 (Dinesh Mongia 81, Ravneet Ricky 29 not out).
