VADODARA, Oct 14: In a reaction to moral policing’ by parents, an appeal for which was issued by state education minister Anandiben Patel, a young girl committed suicide last night when reprimanded by her father for staying out till late night.
According to the Makarpura police, a 19-year-old girl residing in Lalbaug had gone to participate in the garba’, and returned home at 3 a.m. Her parents objected to this and reportedly scolded her, asking her to return earlier in the future.
However, the girl is said to have felt insulted at her parents’ remarks, and committed suicide by hanging herself by a sari from her bedroom ceiling fan.
