CHANDIGARH, Sept 3: In extensive anti-liquor smuggling operations in various colonies and along the City’s periphery, the City police have nabbed 14 persons, including five women, and reportedly recovered more than 150 bottles of liquor from their possession.

Police sources point out that following reports of large- scale liquor smuggling and illegal stocking and sale of Indian Made Foreign liquor in specific parts of the City, police parties conducted raids in Bapu Dham Colony, Mauli Jagran in Manimajra area, Kajheri village, Nehru Colony Sector 52, Labour Colony in Sector 35, the Iron Market in Sector 29, parts of Industrial Area and Colony No 5.

The operation was carried out late last night and went beyond midnight, it was added. Those arrested include Dinesh Kumar from Jammu, Rania alias Gujjar of Mauli Complex, Vikram Singh and Rakesh Kumar of Sector 52, Nanka of Nehru Colony, Babu Ram, Badal, Roshni, and Krishna of Sector 29. Suman and Shiv Kumari, residents of Colony No 5. Natwar Lal and Moti Ram from Sector 31 have also been arrested. In all 14 cases have been registered.
