Happy Dussehra 2023 Wishes and Images: Dussehra or the 10th day marks the end of the nine nights of Navratri. Observed in the Hindu calendar month of Ashvin or Kartik, the day marks Lord Ram’s victory over the evil King Ravana. On the evening of Dussehra, huge effigies of demon king Ravana are burned to signify the victory of good over evil. This year, the festival is celebrated on October 24, 2023, which is a Tuesday.

Also known as Vijayadashami, the day marks the end of the five-day festivities of Durga Puja. It is believed that it is a day to celebrate the triumph of Goddess Durga over the buffalo Demon Mahishasura. On this day, idols of goddess Durga along with those of Saraswati, Laxmi, Ganesh and Kartik, are carried in a procession and immersed in water bodies. Vijayadashami is also known as Dasara. In Nepal, Dasara is celebrated as Dashain. The day is celebrated with much fervour as people exchange sweets and visit each others homes.
