Every bride dreams of looking radiant on her wedding day, and while skincare routines and makeup play a role, what you drink can also contribute to that coveted bridal glow.
Recently, nutritionist Lovneet Batra took to Instagram to share healthy and refreshing drinks that can help you achieve that natural radiance, ensuring you look and feel your best on your special day.
Beetroot and amla are both rich in Vitamin C, noted Dr Mahima Agarwal, consultant, dermatology, Fortis Hospital, Shalimar Bagh, New Delhi. “Vitamin C supports collagen synthesis, promoting skin elasticity and reducing fine lines. Additionally, beetroot and amla juice can promote a brighter complexion, providing a natural glow to the skin.”
Moreover, amla’s anti-inflammatory properties ease redness and irritation, while beetroot aids in liver function, contributing to detoxification and clearer skin. “Incorporating beetroot amla juice into your diet can be a tasty and nutritious way to support skin health,” Dr Agarwal said.
Packed with antioxidants, sugarcane juice and lemon defend your skin against free radicals, offering protection from sun exposure and pollution-induced oxidative stress. “Lemon’s citric acid naturally exfoliates, promoting a brighter complexion by shedding environmental damage. Sugarcane juice hydrates, moisturising the skin naturally,” Dr Agarwal explained.
When combined, the mixture supports the body’s detoxification process, helping eliminate toxins that could contribute to skin problems. However, Dr Agarwal advises to consume sugarcane juice with lemon in moderation due to its natural sugars and acidic content. “Diabetics must consult their doctors before indulging in regular consumption.”
Green tea — a powerhouse of antioxidants — especially catechins, safeguards the skin by combating free radicals and preventing premature ageing. Beyond protection, Dr Agarwal noted that it aids in collagen production, enhancing skin elasticity and diminishing fine lines. Additionally, green tea’s anti-inflammatory properties alleviate redness, swelling and irritation.
Combining green tea and lemon helps maintain moisture levels of the skin. “This duo also brightens the complexion, imparting a natural glow,” Dr Agarwal said.
While yogurt’s probiotics support gut health, which is tied to clearer skin and combating issues like acne, berries are loaded with antioxidants such as vitamin C and polyphenols that fight free radicals, shielding the skin from oxidative stress and premature ageing signs. “A concoction of berries’ vitamin C, yogurt’s protein and probiotics fortify collagen, fostering skin firmness and reducing fine lines. Raw honey, on the other hand, a natural humectant, hydrates the skin internally and alleviates acne symptoms,” said Dr Agarwal.
Packed with nutrients, including vital vitamins, minerals, and antioxidants, bamboo shoot and lotus stem juice offers a myriad of skin benefits. “This nutrient-rich juice ensures optimal hydration, maintaining moisture levels for a more youthful and plump appearance. The anti-inflammatory properties of bamboo shoots and lotus stems reduce redness, swelling, and irritation. Additionally, their detoxifying effects support the body’s natural processes, eliminating toxins that may contribute to skin problems. Some studies even suggest that bamboo compounds could bolster collagen production, enhancing skin elasticity and firmness,” said Dr Agarwal.
These simple drinks are all about nourishing your skin from within. “Incorporate them into your pre-wedding routine for that stunning bridal glow,” concluded Batra.
