Milind Soman staunchly believes that all one needs to fight the lazy and stay fit is the right mindset. In keeping with the same, he once again proved the same by showing that you can take out time for your health whenever and wherever you are. Currently in Malta, Soman, 57, took to Instagram to share an inspiring note.
“Love running in beautiful places! Actually, when it comes to running, anywhere is beautiful,” said Soman, who can be seen running against a picturesque backdrop in the video.
Just a day prior, calling the weather “running perfect”, Soman wrote, “Ran 12k with @ankita_earthy along the sea to #fightlazy after arriving in Malta yesterday. Such a pretty country, and the weather is running perfect.”
Why should you consider running?
Calling running a good exercise to improve your cardio respiratory health, Rachit Dua, co-founder of Fitpathshala, said that one doesn’t need any equipment or big space to perform this exercise.
Agreed Varun Rattan, co-founder, The Body Science Academy, Noida and said that this form of exercise is acknowledged for its time-efficiency and convenience. “It demands more energy than walking, and someone with an average weight of 65 kg can burn roughly 14 calories per minute while running. When it comes to running, it’s not just your legs that are involved, but multiple muscle groups throughout your body. It is also a therapeutic way to manage various psychological conditions, including mood swings,” Rattan told indianexpress.com.
How much running is too much?
If you’ve been running regularly, you might notice some warning signs on overdoing it. These could include ongoing pain in your joints or muscles, frequent injuries, getting sick more often, and feeling exhausted all the time, warned Rattan.
“It’s important to give yourself enough time to rest and recover before you hit the pavement again. Also, consider investing in some lightweight, breathable shoes that provide good support for your feet and ankles,” Rattan said.
It’s always a good idea to talk to your doctor before starting any new exercise program. If you have heart or orthopaedic issues or are currently overweight, walking might be a better choice for you than running, he added.
