British actor Tom Holland is a popular youth icon, having shot to fame due to his role as Peter Parker in Marvel’s Spiderman series. In an interview with Men’s Health magazine, he spilled the beans on everything he eats in a day along with his culinary favorites.
His philosophy behind his diet? Holland believes diet is far more important than what he does in the gym. For him to see results, it’s 80% diet and 20% fitness. “I try to be strict and healthy. I travel a lot so I find it really difficult to get into a routine of cooking for myself,” the Spiderman actor revealed.
He shared that he tries to consume a healthy amount of vegetables every day, and that is supplemented by the fact that his girlfriend Zendaya is a vegetarian.
Typically for breakfast, Holland will have a bowl of porridge, with a bunch of fruits and nuts, accompanied with a shake. This is because he likes to get up early and get the day started. If he has to cook something, it slows down his day. The berries give me a bunch of fiber and the nuts give me the fats that I need. The carbs from the oats gives me nice long lasting energy.
Unless he is bulking, Holland usually skips lunch. Cut to evening, he would go over to his brother Sam’s house and have whatever he’s making for dinner – which can include anything and everything ranging from sticky bao buns or traditional roast chicken.
Holland takes supplements depending on his fitness goals, taking a steady flow of creatine and protein through the morning shake, which provides him with a boost of vitamins and minerals.
The hardest thing he has done in terms of dieting was cutting a lot of weight for a role in the film ‘Cherry’, trying to keep to consuming below 500 calories a day along with heavy training. However, he shared that those days were behind him and he would not try that again for fear of potential health concerns.
Holland also mentioned that he likes to batch cook a kind of chilli made with lentils instead of meat, which is flavourful, healthy and tasty. His favourite carbohydrate-rich foods include potatoes, in any shape or form. And protein would be either cod or chicken. He appreciates how easy it is to cook Cod,
He revealed that he is lucky his default body setting is to lose weight if he’s not training and eating, and he has to consciously think about maintaining his size. This makes cheat meals a good thing in his books. A sucker for In-N-Out burgers, he goes for two “double double with raw onions”, without a side of fries.
