Whenever one thinks of celebrating the festival of Ganesh Chaturthi, and bringing “Bappa” into one’s home, it is usually followed by the thought of offering modaks, Lord Ganesha’s favourite, to the deity. And what better way to do that than by making those delicious modaks yourself! The delectable dumplings are extremely popular in Maharashtra and while there are numerous versions of the delicacy, we bring you the recipe for making the time-tested classic modaks to add flavour to your festival.
There are different ways to make modaks – you can choose to either steam or fry them, though most people usually prefer the former. Also over time, cooks have experimented with the filling as well. From the traditional coconut filling, to the more experimental baklava and gulkand.
