The best aspect of fitness is that you can approach it in the most distinct ways. From simple to compound movements and even free-flowing ones, the possibilities are endless, which makes it an interesting way to keep fighting fit. As such, we couldn’t help but laud Tejasswi Prakash‘s commitment to her fitness routine with aerial yoga, a glimpse of which was shared by yoga trainer Anshuka Parwani.

“@tejasswiprakash finding her balance in our FlyFit hammock,” said Parwani, who also shared a few pictures of the 30-year-old practising different poses on the hammock.

Parwani’s mantra for Tejasswi? “Stretch • Bend • Invert • Repeat,” said Parwani.

What is flyfit aerial method?

Notably, instead of doing the yoga asanas on a mat, you do them with your body suspended from the hammock that is usually kept close to the ground, less than a metre from the floor. Aerial yoga was created in New York, by Christopher Harrison, an acrobatic dancer, as mentioned by yogapedia.com.

Flyfit aerial method is a unique exercise technique that takes an individual from ground level to sky level successfully, said fitness expert Garima Goyal.

“Aerial arts impart a great sense of confidence in an individual and improve the body’s overall strength and flexibility as well. The main piece of equipment to use in aerial arts is an aerial hammock, also known as an aerial sling. Aerial fitness fuses stretching style exercises, Pilates-based core moves, fun aerial challenges, strength training, balance and posture work, to help create new brain-body connections,” Goyal mentioned.

Who is it for?

Experts urge that this style of exercise engages the core, increases overall muscle mass and decreases fat mass without any added pressure on the shoulders, joints, or spine. Therefore, it is known to be beginner-friendly.

According to Goyal, this is for those looking for something outside of the normal gym workout to stay fit or for those to use it as great body conditioning in addition to their weight or cardio workouts. “Aerial fitness allows more freedom for different body types, personality types, and in different levels of challenge. Aerial fitness has a special focus on three-dimensional movement, conditioning, and joint rotation and mobility,” said Goyal.
