Ranbir Kapoor is always in the limelight — whether it is with his films, interviews, or personal life. But this time he caught our attention with his latest fitness routine.
In an interview with Nikhil Kamath on his YouTube podcast, Ranbir said he has changed his style of workout for a new project. “Earlier my workouts included dumbbells, pushing, chest presses, protein, and all of that. Now, I am working with Nam, a very interesting trainer from Korea who has holistically changed my perception of training. I train with him three hours a day,” said Kapoor.
Detailing his routine, the 41-year-old added, “In the morning, I do mobility, stretching, and cardio from 11 am to 12 pm. I sleep for a bit in the afternoon. Then, I train from 5-7 pm which is usually a strength (workout). I have seen new things that have nothing to do with machines or weights. It’s a lot of bodyweight training with pull-ups, squats, and deadlifts. That is the only weight I use. Otherwise, it’s handstands or headstands. I am enjoying that as I was bored of just pumping up,” said Kapoor.
“This is for a role. The most challenging part that I could get. It requires another level of preparation for which I have been preparing for the last 7 months. I have not shot a movie for the past eight months. So, it has been like a paternity leave for me,” expressed Kapoor.
Taking a cue, let’s understand how you can challenge your fitness routine even without weights.
Exercise doesn’t have to be grueling to be effective, said clinical dietitian Garima Goyal. “Low-intensity exercises like bodyweight exercises, yoga, or stretching can improve flexibility and strength,” said Goyal.
Bodyweight exercises are strength-training exercises that use your own body as resistance, requiring no additional weights or equipment. According to Goyal, these exercises leverage your body’s weight to build muscle, improve flexibility, and enhance overall fitness. Some of these include pushups, squats, lunges, and planks.
The versatility of bodyweight exercises makes them suitable for full-body workouts. Goyal said they also contribute to improved body awareness and coordination.
“Bodyweight exercises offer a practical and effective means of improving strength, flexibility, and your fitness without the need for additional equipment. They are versatile, adaptable to different fitness levels, and contribute to a holistic approach to physical well-being,” said Goyal.
