Fashion designer Amit Aggarwal still experiences the “adrenaline rush” before unveiling a collection, even after 11 years in the industry. This excitement was palpable as he introduced Antevorta, his new couture line at the FDCI India Couture Week in Delhi. “It has been a decade-long relationship with India Couture Week. The adrenaline rush before unveiling a collection remains as exhilarating as ever. Perfecting even a single garment requires countless variables to align, making this journey deeply rewarding. I look forward to many more years of collaboration,” Aggarwal said in an interview with indianexpress.com.
Aggarwal, whose designs have been worn by celebrities like Alia Bhatt, Deepika Padukone, Kareena Kapoor Khan, and Kriti Sanon, revealed that the latest collection draws inspiration from the concept of time. “It blends philosophy, mythology, and science with modernity. The aim was to merge intricate craftsmanship with innovative techniques, creating contemporary and timeless pieces. Each garment tells a unique story, capturing fleeting and eternal moments, and celebrating the past, present, and future,” he said. The collection took six months to complete.

Delhi-based Aggarwal, inspired by “natural elements and architecture,” is famous for merging wearable art with nature’s beauty. His process begins with studying nature’s “intricate details and textures,” followed by experimenting with materials and techniques. “This fusion transforms raw materials into garments that are not only aesthetically pleasing but also serve as a form of self-expression and cultural commentary,” he said.
Aggarwal believes his journey is defined by “continuously blending tradition with innovation.” By refining techniques, embracing new technologies, and drawing inspiration from nature and architecture, he has pushed creative boundaries while staying true to his core aesthetic. “Each collection merges timeless elegance with contemporary trends, reflecting a deepened understanding of design,” he said. “I believe my soul’s purpose is to create, and I don’t think this is my first life as a designer…nor my last.”
Prod him a little more about his contemporaries like Masaba Gupta, or Gaurav Gupta, he is quick to respond, saying, “I deeply admire my contemporaries”.
“Their commitment to pushing fashion’s boundaries resonates with me. Their unique design approach and vision for integrating technology with craftsmanship are particularly inspiring, reflecting a fearless dedication to both artistry and modernity. This fusion of elements aligns with my own philosophy of creating both modern yet timeless pieces,” said Aggarwal, who is “anticipating the launch of a new bridal collection soon after the show.”
