Searches for Shillong have skyrocketed by 828%, Skyscanner said, reflecting its growing appeal.
The crown jewel of best-value destinations, Almaty is celebrated for its striking natural beauty and affordability.
With flight prices dropping by 44%, it is ideal for budget-conscious adventurers who wish to explore picturesque landscapes and delve into Central Asia’s rich culture.
According to MakeMyTrip’s 2024 trends report too, less-explored gems like Baku (Azerbaijan), Almaty (Kazakhstan), and Nagoya (Japan) are catching attention, while destinations like Langkawi (Malaysia) and Antalya (Turkey) are becoming trendy alternatives.
This tropical paradise, famous for its turquoise waters and luxurious resorts, ranks high among Indians seeking sun-soaked getaways.
Langkawi saw a 433% surge in searches, as its blend of pristine beaches and thrilling activities continues to entice families and honeymooners alike.
At the crossroads of Europe and Asia, Baku is an emerging hotspot. Its futuristic skyline juxtaposed with UNESCO-listed Old City has made it a favourite among Indian travellers.
With a 395% increase in interest, it’s a destination offering culture, affordability, and unique experiences.
For those drawn to immersive cultural experiences, Tokyo is a must-visit. Known for its vibrant mix of tradition and modernity, the city is home to attractions like the TeamLab Borderless Museum—a mesmerising digital art experience.
Tokyo has seen an 87% uptick in searches, signalling growing interest in Japan’s futuristic charm.
Indian travellers are increasingly seeking the allure of the Northern Lights, and Tromsø offers one of the best views.
Known as the gateway to the Arctic, it’s also perfect for stargazing and night photography. The city has experienced a 251% growth in searches.
Ranked among the best-value destinations, Jakarta is ideal for budget-friendly travellers. A drop in airfare by 27% makes it a prime choice for exploring Indonesia’s lively capital, renowned for its bustling markets and historical landmarks.
Uzbekistan is rising as a favourite among culture enthusiasts, and Tashkent leads the way. Its stunning Islamic architecture, rich history, and unique cuisine have driven a 158% rise in searches, marking it as a destination worth exploring in 2024.
Just a short flight away, Colombo is a perennial favourite among Indians. Offering serene beaches, rich heritage sites, and delectable cuisine, the city has maintained a 120% growth in searches, cementing its place on travel wishlists.
South Korea is witnessing increased interest, particularly among younger travellers, thanks to the global popularity of K-dramas and K-pop. Seoul’s dynamic culture, cutting-edge technology, and immersive attractions make it a must-visit. Airfares to Seoul have seen a 14% price drop, making it an accessible option.
