Khushbu Sundar always takes out time for her family, friends, and herself. And the same was visible when the politician paired up with her close friends and fellow actors Suhasini Hasan Maniratnam and Poornima Bhagyaraj to try their hands at resin art in a workshop.

All three shared their enjoyable experience on their respective Instagram handles.

Take a look.

The workshop page tints.and.inks managed by artist Kavitha Anand shared, “We had a fabulous experience at our Resin art workshop yesterday with @khushsundar @suhasinihasan @poornimabhagyaraj working on their stunning masterpieces”, which was re-shared by Khushbu.

Poornima expressed, “The thrill of learning a new art. Being like kids again. Thank you for the experience @tints.and.inks @suhasinihasan @khushsundar” while Suhasini shared, “We take pictures and videos as a return ticket to a moment otherwise gone. Friends and quality times with them are always beautiful. Evergreen 80s. Love love love”.

The trio can be seen making each of their artworks with varied hues in the videos.

Taking a leaf out of their day with epoxy resin art, we decided to delve into this particular art medium with help from a resin artist Madhavi Adalja.

What is epoxy resin?

At room temperature, resin is a type of synthetic polymer that is liquid; yet, when exposed to air, it becomes hard. Jewellery, sculptures, paintings, and other decorative items are frequently made out of epoxy resin. “The creation of countertops, tabletops, and other surfaces are some of its other more practical uses,” described Madhavi.

Epoxy resin is frequently used in adhesive applications. “This is so that structural and technical adhesives can be made possible by the epoxy’s robust characteristics. Epoxy resin is often a two-part glue that can be used for repairs. It is frequently used to build sealants or restore shattered things. Electrical and electronic systems use epoxy resin. Once combined, the adhesive will solidify and create a solid bind. Electrical and electronic systems use epoxy resin,” elucidated Madhavi.

For many artists and crafters, resin art is a popular choice.

How is it different from other materials?

According to Madhavi, resin can be used to make anything because “it is so versatile” since resin flows and produces distinctive patterns.

“Epoxy resin gives paintings and other works of art a glossy, polished surface while enhancing the hues. Additional defense against general wear and tear or scratches is offered by a clear coat of resin,” noted Madhavi.

Painters and artisans wishing to add an extra layer of colour and sparkle to their artwork are finding resin to be an increasingly popular medium. “Resin is a fantastic substitute for conventional paints, and it can be used to create statement pieces on canvas or to protect wood furniture. Because of this, its appeal is spreading around the globe,” said Madhavi.
