If you’ve visited the Google homepage today in India, you would have seen a beautifully vibrant Google doodle commemorating Children’s Day. And what makes this nature-inspired piece even more special is that it’s been made by a Pune-based 11-year-old girl Anvita Prashant Telang.
Earlier this year, Telang, from Vibgyor High School, Balewadi, won the ‘Doodle 4 Google’ contest for her imaginative, thoughtful and inspiring doodle, titled ‘Enjoy Every Moment’. The sixth standard girl loves to draw and wanted to showcase “how to value little and simple things in our lives as they are great sources of happiness”. She believes people need to slow down to lead a happy and fulfilling life.
According to Sapna Chadha, Head of Marketing, Google India, this year it was a tough competition, with participation from over fifty cities across India and 10 days of voting. “It’s heartening to see the messages that these young minds wish to communicate with such creativity,” said Chadha in a statement.

Telang submitted her Doodle around this year’s theme, ‘If I could teach anyone anything, it would be’. Her creativity and vision towards developing ‘a better world and healthy lifestyle’ is well reflected through her colourful doodle where she has showcased how everyone should ‘Enjoy Every Moment’ and appreciate the simple things around us and live stress-free lives.
This year’s jury included political cartoonist, Ajit Ninan, Art Director Savio Mascarenhas, popular creative artist Rob and Doodle team lead Ryan Germick. The entries were evaluated on the criteria of artistic merit, creativity and theme communication as well as their unique and novel approach to the Doodle. Along with Telnag – who won in the second category of grades 4-6, two other group winners were also chosen:
Grades 1-3: B Shrisha, Sri Prakash Vidyaniketan, Visakhapatnam for her doodle ‘Indoor Gardening’
Grades 7-10: Akashdeep, Kendriya Vidyalaya, Doranda, Ranchi for her doodle titled ‘Water Conservation for A Better Tomorrow’
