UPPSC PCS Prelims 2024 date announced; exam to be held in single shift

“It is hereby notified that the Combined State / Senior Subordinate Services (Pre.) Examination-2024 which was proposed to be held in two days on 07th and 08th December, instead of the said examination will now be conducted in one day on date-22.12.2024 in two sessions (First Session- from 9:30 am to 11:30 am and Second Session from 2:30 pm to 4:30 pm),” the official notice stated.

The commission has rescheduled the exam date of the PCS 2024 prelims for the fourth time. Initially, the exam was scheduled for March 17, then postponed to October 26 and 27. Later, it was rescheduled for December 7 and 8 but was postponed due to days of continued protest in Prayagraj.

This decision has been announced a day after the state government announced that it would hold the Provincial Civil Service Examination (PCS) preliminary exams in a single shift — one of the key demands of the protesters. The move came after the intervention of Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath, an official stated.

“Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath took cognizance of the demand of students in Prayagraj and asked the Commission to take necessary decisions by communicating and coordinating with the students regarding the PCS Preliminary Examination 2024 in one day. A committee has been formed by the Commission for RO/ARO (Pre.) Examination-2023. The committee will consider all aspects and submit its detailed report soon,” the Chief Minister’s Office said in a statement.
