Sarbananda Sonowal, the Union Minister for Ayush, and Assam Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma on Sunday laid the foundation stone for the Central Research Institute of Yoga and Naturopathy along with a 100-bed yoga and naturopathy hospital in Assam’s Dibrugarh.
The institution will offer facilities to train yoga and naturopathy experts for capacity building programmes in areas of cardiac rehabilitation, diabetes rehabilitation, autoimmune diseases and NCD risk reduction. The centre will also provide inpatient, outpatient, and daycare services.
“This is yet another testament of (Prime Minister Narendra) Modi ji’s efforts to empower Assam and the whole of the Northeast, to harness its rich flora and fauna and drive expansion in the Ayush sector with peripheral growth in hospitality, patient care and medical tourism sectors,” Sonowal said.
CM Sarma said, “The Union government has been lending tremendous support by adding one central institution after another, reinforcing strength to the vision of an atmanirbhar (self-sufficient) Bharat. Naturopathy and yoga are two of the most important verticals of Ayush, which not only cure your ailments, but also rejuvenate your mind and body to take on every challenge and live a healthy life,” Sarma said.
