Stating that it has come to its notice that some private hospitals are giving packages for Covid-19 vaccination in collaboration with hotels, the centre wrote to the states reiterating that Covid-19 vaccination drive can be carried out under four specific categories and flagged that vaccination drive being carried out in star hotels must be stopped.
The health ministry wrote to the states that necessary legal and administrative action should be initiated for those violating the Centre’s guidelines.
The ministry reiterated that Covid-19 vaccination can be carried out under four options: government vaccination centres; private Covid-19 vaccination centre run by a private hospital; workplace Covid-19 vaccination at private companies to be run by private hospitals; and near to home vaccination centre for elderly and differently-abled persons to be organised at group housing societies, community centres, panchayat bhavans, old age homes on a temporary basis.
“Apart from this there are no other avenues to carry out vaccination under the national Covid-19 vaccination programme, therefore vaccination carried out in star hotels is contrary to the guidelines and must be stopped immediately. Necessary legal and administrative action should be initiated against such institutions,” the health ministry wrote to the states.
