An army jawan allegedly committed suicide by shooting himself with his service rifle in Jammu district,officials said here today.
Sepoy Sanjeev Soni of 18 Dogra Regiment shot himself from his service rifle in Mandal Army Camp in Akhnoor belt of Jammu district late last night,officials said,adding he died on the spot.
A court of inquiry has been ordered into the incident by the army.
In a separate incident,a Class XI student Mahesh Singh allegedly committed suicide by shooting himself with his father’s rifle in Bali village of Kalakote tehsil in Rajouri district last night,the police said.
Police has seized the rifle and registered a case.
In another incident,a mechanic Dilbagh Singh committed suicide by shooting himself with a local country-made gun in Prem Nagar area of Doda district.
The body has been handed over to his family members,who are residents of Una district of Himachal Pradesh.
A case has been registered by police and investigation has begun into the matter.
