Batting strongly for the release of detenus not involved in heinous crimes in Jammu and Kashmir,the CPI(M) today demanded gradual revocation of Armed Forces Special Powers Act (AFSPA) in the state.

“We demand gradual revocation of AFSPA and release of detenus not involved in heinous crimes in Jammu and Kashmir,” CPI(M) State Secretary Mohammad Yousuf Tarigami said on the concluding day of two-day meet of CPI(M) state committee here today.

The two-day meet deliberated upon the political scenario of the state and passed few resolutions at the end of the meeting. Senior CPI(M) leader Sham Prasad Kesar presided over the meeting.

Addressing the meeting,Tarigami demanded for making the recommendations of the Padgoankar Committee public as the same had been submitted long back.

During the concluding session,the committee also passed few resolutions and urged the government to take effective measures to curb corruption,he added.

Among the other important issues discussed in the party meet included streamlining power supply,increase in budget allocations for agriculture sector,more job opportunities in skilled and unskilled sector,uniformity in Public Distribution System and assistance to refugees and migrants in Jammu.
