The Centre has approved the Bihar Special Court Bill 2008,aimed at weeding out corruption in public offices in the state,Chief Minister Nitish Kumar said on Tuesday.
The Centre has given its assent to the bill which was passed by the state legislature and sent for approval in March 2009 after repeated reminders… I received an intimation that the Centre has now okayed it a couple of days ago, he said in Patna.
Kumar said he had taken up the issue with Union Law Minister M Veerappa Moily during his visit to New Delhi in October.
The bill empowers agencies probing corruption cases to confiscate assets of public servants if they are found to be disproportionate.
Kumar said he has decided to use the palatial buildings owned by corrupt public servants as schools.
