Head constable killed near home in Kashmir, third militant attack in 3 days
Police said that on Tuesday evening, militants fired at head constable Ghulam Mohammad Dar near his residence at Wailoo Kralpora village of Tangmarg. They said Dar was shot multiple times from point blank range.

A policeman was killed in a suspected militant attack in north Kashmir on Tuesday evening, with the brazen attack coming just a day after the militants shot dead a migrant worker in south Kashmir.
Tuesday’s attack is the third targeted militant attack in the Valley in the last three days – another policeman was shot at in Srinagar on Sunday – and comes at a time when Jammu and Kashmir has got a new police chief in R R Swain, who took charge on Tuesday.

Police said that on Tuesday evening, militants fired at head constable Ghulam Mohammad Dar near his residence at Wailoo Kralpora village of Tangmarg. They said Dar was shot multiple times from point blank range.
Police said while he was rushed to the Sub District Hospital at Tangmarg, he succumbed.
“We pay our rich tributes to the martyr and stand by his family at this critical juncture. Area has been cordoned off. Search operation going on,” the J&K police posted on social media.
Police sources said he was posted in Srinagar and is survived by six daughters.
On Sunday evening, suspected militants fired at a police officer from point blank range when he was playing cricket at Srinagar’s Eidgah ground. The police officer was critically injured in the attack.

A day later, suspected militants shot at and killed a labourer from Uttar Pradesh in Pulwama. He was shot from point blank range when he had gone to buy groceries.
Former Chief Minister and Peoples Democratic Party chief Mehbooba Mufti condemned the attacks over the past three days. “In just a few days we are seeing an unfortunate rise in targeted killings. I condemn each one of these cowardly acts. My deepest condolences to the family of Ghulam Mohammad Dar who was shot dead in Tangmarg today,” she tweeted.
Former CM and National Conference leader Omar Abdullah also responded to the killing on Twitter: “Deeply saddened to hear about the death of Head Constable Gh. Mohd. Dar in a militant attack earlier this evening. His death is yet another indicator of the terrible price JK Police personnel have paid in the decades long fight against terror in the region. I pray that he find place in Jannat & his loved ones find strength at this difficult time.
