TARGETING THE Congress government in Rajasthan, Defence Minister Rajnath Singh on Wednesday said that although it has made a number of “guarantees” or promises in its election manifesto there is no guarantee for safety and security of women and children in the state. He also referred to the recruitment paper leak to accuse the Ashok Gehlot government of playing with the future of the youth.

“Under this government, there is no guarantee for the safety and security of women and children. Rajasthan is a land of brave men. But the Congress in the last five years has become a blot on its record. It is time to take revenge,” he told voters at a rally in Kherwara.

He alleged that there has been an unprecedented number of crimes against women under the Congress rule.

“Shame on such a government which could not protect mothers and daughters. The government that cannot ensure the safety of its people does not have any right to be in power. Robust law and order system is the first sign of good governance,” the senior BJP leader said, adding that the state could not celebrate a single festival without “stone pelting or looting or any such untoward incidents”.

Singh, who addressed three poll rallies in the Udaipur region, also accused the Gehlot government of religious discrimination. “In Jaipur, somebody from a particular community was killed in a road rage incident and the government granted him cash compensation, government job for a family member and a dairy booth. I have no objection to it, but I would like to ask why not others like Kanhaiya Lal, who was beheaded… get similar treatment?” Singh asked at the rallies.

Bringing up the recruitment paper leak scam, Singh targeted the state government, saying, “If papers were leaked 17 times, it means you are playing with the future of youths.”

He also alleged that no new industries have been set up in Rajasthan under the Congress rule and those established earlier during the tenure of the BJP government led by Vasundhara Raje were being shut.

Singh also accused the Gehlot government of not keeping its loan waiver promises.

In Jhadol, he asked the gathering: “Have you got taps in your houses? Do you get drinking water there? Modiji has assured drinking water to every household and he has sent money to the state government for it. This government has not done justice to any central scheme. If you vote for the BJP we will ensure that every household gets drinking water in the taps.”

Slamming the Congress for the infighting between Gehlot and former state party president Sachin Pilot, he said: “The Ashok Gehlot government has not done anything for development. And if he (Gehlot) has done anything, it was to save his chair. Instead of doing development, they are fighting among themselves.”

With Kherwara and Jhadol being tribal dominated constituencies, he reminded the voters that it was the BJP that chose a tribal to be the President.

“It has been nine years since the BJP has been in power at the Centre. Have you heard of any corruption allegation against any BJP minister at the Centre? But… there have been serious allegations of corruption whenever the Congress government came to power… There was a bank scam, a 2G scam, a coal scam, etc. This is an election to determine the future of Rajasthan, so vote to save the state,” he said, urging the people to vote for the BJP in the November 25 election.
