Union Environment and Forest Minister Prakash Javadekar Sunday held a ‘janata darbar’ at Vetal Tekdi and other adjoining hills and heard public views on issues associated with biodiversity and ot-her environment-related issues. He also heard concerns about depleting forests and suggestions to check the trends.

Javadekar visited the forest near Bhamburda and ARAI and the popular Vetal Tekdi and met morning walkers. About 500 people had gathered at Vetal Tekdi at 7.30 am. At the ‘durbar’ Javadekar promised that he will try to meet residents in all cities in similar fashion and would take their feedback.

Javadekar also launched a mobile application “SarpMitra” which will help sensitise people about snakes and also provide help in case of snake rescues.

“Our government’s approach is to ensure wider participation of people in making cities greener,” he tweeted later in the day.
