The opposition Mahagathbandhan alliance in Bihar released its joint manifesto on Tuesday for the upcoming assembly election promising government jobs and monetary aid to women. Legislation guaranteeing a job to one member of each family within 20 days of forming a government, 200 units of free electricity, and Rs 2,500 monthly aid to women were part of the 25 highlight points mentioned in the document.

The manifesto also promises implementation of the Old Pension Scheme.

This comes days after the Mahagathbandhan announced the release of a joint manifesto for the Bihar Assembly elections, announcing RJD leader Tejashwi Yadav as the CM face for the alliance. Mukesh Sahani, who heads the Vikasheel Insaan Pary, has been named as the Deputy CM nominee from the Mahagathbandhan.

Meanwhile, the ruling NDA in Bihar is likely to release its election manifesto for the assembly election on October 30.

It would also promise implementing recommendations of the Bandyopadhyay Commission on land reforms, and giving first access to rape survivors of their medical reports to avoid “manipulation”.

The coordination committee is headed by former Bihar deputy chief minister and RJD leader Tejashwi Yadav, with members from all Mahagathbandhan parties, including Congress state president Rajesh Ram, AICC Bihar in-charge Krishna Allavaru, and CPI (M-L) L general secretary Dipankar Bhattacharya, among others.

The D Bandyopadhyay Commission (also known as the Bihar Land Reforms Commission) was a three-member panel constituted by the Bihar government in June 2006 to recommend land reforms in the state.
