Samajwadi Party (SP) president and Kannauj MP Akhilesh Yadav on Tuesday said his party’s win in Faizabad (Ayodhya) was a “message from Lord Ram”. He said the 2024 Lok Sabha polls result marked the end of “communal politics” in India and was a moral victory for the INDIA bloc.

Akhilesh read “shayri” and recited a chaupai from Ramcharitmanas while participating in the Motion of Thanks on the President’s address. The SP chief expressed gratitude towards the “wise and honest” voters who did not “allow conversion of loktantra into ek-tantra (democracy to one individual system)” in the country.

Attributing the SP’s win in Faizabad to democratic understanding of mature voters in the country, Akhilesh recited a chaupai of Ramcharitmanas: “Hoi wahi jo Ram rachi rakha (Whatever Ram has planned will happen).”

With Faizabad MP Awadhesh Prasad seated next to him, Akhilesh said they have brought a “prem ka paigham (message of love)” of Lord Ram from Ayodhya.

He read out an urdu couplet: “Huzur-e-alla aaj tak khamosh baithey hain issi gham me, mehfil loot le gaya koi jabki sajai humne.”

The SP chief, who along with alliance partner Congress had raised the demand for a caste census during their campaign for the Lok Sabha elections, said, “Social justice is not possible without a caste census.”

Taking a jibe at the BJP’s poll slogan “400 paar”, Akhilesh recited another couplet: “Awaam ne tod diya hukumat ka gurur, darbar to laga hai par bada gamgeen, benoor hai.” He went on to call the NDA government a “haari hui sarkar (a government that lost the election)” and a “girne wali sarkar hai” (a government that can fall any time)”.

Akhilesh said the entire nation has understood that only INDIA is “pro-India”. He called the Opposition alliance’s success a victory of positive politics, a victory of PDA (Pichde Dali Alpsankhayak) and social justice movement”. He said the 2024 Lok Sabha poll results message was also full of responsibilities for the INDIA bloc.

He called June 4, 2024 (the day of poll results) the day of freedom from “communal politics” and a beginning of “samudayik rajneeti (community politics)”.

“This time, pro-Constitution people and samvidhan rakshak (protectors of the Constitution) have won,” said the SP chief. He said the country will not run according to personal ‘mahtwakansha (ambitions)” of any individual, but it will run according to “jan-akansha (people’s aspirations)”. He added that “man marji nahi, jan marji chalegi (people’s will will prevail, not yours)”. He also said the election result has marked the end of “top-down politics”.

Without taking names of any leader from the ruling side, Akhilesh said, “In the name of double engine, UP has got nothing except differences. In the battle of dominance in UP… the public is at the receiving end.”

Targeting the government on paper leaks in recruitment examinations, Akhilesh said the only “achievement” of the government in the last 10 years was the emergence of a “shisksha-parikha mafia (education-examination mafia)”.

He said paper leaks happened in all the recruitment exams in Uttar Pradesh and accused the government of enabling it “because it does not want to give jobs to youths”. “If jobs are given, then reservation too has to be given… Knowingly, the government has played around with jobs and reservation,” he said.

Akhilesh reiterated INDIA bloc’s stand on Agniveer scheme. “Whenever the INDIA bloc will come to power, the Agniveer scheme will be scrapped,” he said.
